Piatigorsky and Klengel

December 15, 2013

I saw a bit of this “historic performance film footage” about Heifetz and Piatigorsky in Youtube so I bought this DVD. I then accidentally came across this CD for Julius Klengel, Piatigorsky is one of his pupils.

Piatrigorsky transcribed this famous Danzas Espanolas No 2 by Granados for cello.

Going back to Larsen

December 7, 2013

It came with Larsen medium on A and D.

I tried some other strings but I miss the original sound of it so I went back to Larsen, this time their Soloist’s edition!

The nice sound of it attracts me to practice more!

Pass, fail, merit and distinction

June 25, 2013

I failed in my forecast, I didn’t get 125. I got 120, OK not bad, it wasn’t a complete disaster.

I have 80 for the 3 pieces so I think the examiner was generous, it certainly not one of my best. I failed in scale and sight reading, 4 marks short in total, it’s 8 marks less than last time. Aural tests as expected I got the same as in last exam, no surprises!

He did it better

Inching closer

Baroque period music is my cup of tea, I’m inching closer to what I like. It’s kind of cleansing agent for my sleep.

I may read that book again I finished years ago.
